SUMMARY:GRDC Herbicide behaviour workshop — Toowoomba
DESCRIPTION:Herbicide resistance is changing product use. In many situations\, products and mixtures that previously worked are now less effective. \nThis workshop will focus on the biological pathways and environmental factors that influence herbicide performance\, along with interactions that may occur when products are mixed and will be delivered by ICAN Senior Consultant Mark Congreve. \nParticipants will leave with a better understanding of the key factors dictating herbicide performance and what can be done in the paddock to ensure weed control is maximised. Knowing what weeds will be controlled from a herbicide application is the easy bit – it’s on the label. More challenging questions include: \n\nWhy do herbicides perform or fail in some situations? How do environmental factors influence this?\nWhat can happen when we tank mix?\nCritical comments on the label. Why are they important?\nHow do adjuvants and water conditioning agents work? What should be used\, when and why?\nHow does resistance affect different herbicides? What strategies can be used as resistance emerges?\nHow do residual herbicides work and what influences their breakdown?\n\nWorkshop numbers will be capped to ensure effective participation. Workshop registrations will be accepted on a first-in basis and a ‘wait list’ will be established for workshops that sell out. \n \nFor more information\, contact Erica McKay\, on 02 94824930 or erica@icanrural.com.au.

SUMMARY:Darling Downs Regional drought resilience plan consultation — Stanthorpe
DESCRIPTION:Contribute to the design of projects addressing Regional Drought Resilience on the Darling Downs. \nNow that the Regional Drought Resilience Plans have been formally approved by both the state and Australian Governments\, we’re moving into the exciting next phase: shaping an Implementation Plan that turns broad ideas into practical\, well-designed projects. \nTo help make this happen\, we’re hosting a series of short\, interactive roundtable discussions with local stakeholders\, about the important steps and elements needed to most effectively implement these projects in the Darling Downs region. \nIt’s also a chance for participants to highlight the projects and priorities they believe will make the biggest difference in strengthening the region’s resilience for future droughts. While not every idea will immediately lead to funded activity\, the feedback gathered will play a critical role in shaping projects that are realistic\, impactful and ready for future investment opportunities. \nThe Plan is available online: https://rdrpqld.org.au/region/darling-downs-region/ \nReserve your spot
