SUMMARY:Soil to success: Maximising land productivity — Goovigen
DESCRIPTION:“Get hands-on with practical erosion control strategies! Explore real-life trials\, discover what’s working\, and learn how to apply solutions tailored to your property\, your system\, and your budget. Walk away with clear\, actionable steps to boost productivity\, retain water\, and improve groundcover.” \nJoin Dawson Catchment Coordinating Association and Central Queensland Landscape Alliance for Soil to success on 17 March. The practical hands-on workshop will explore a range of trials and management options designed to reduce erosion risk and improve landscape function. Learn what’s being tested\, what’s showing promise\, and what could work on your country\, in your system\, within your budget. \nHear from Glenn Landsberg\nGlenn is a farmer\, rehydration consultant and pilot focused on restoring landscape function in Australia’s rangelands. His aerial perspective helps him identify degraded areas and implement targeted earthworks that slow water movement\, leading to improved soil health and promoting grass growth. By enhancing moisture retention\, his approach helps to create more resilient and productive landscapes. \nEvent details\nSoil to success has been fully funding\, including morning tea and lunch. \nPlan to arrive at around 8:30am as the event will start at 9\, with a 1pm finish. \nTo book your seat\, contact Chloe Paviour\, on 0427 902 374\, or Kylie MacTaggart\, on 0419 686 259.

SUMMARY:GRDC Herbicide behaviour workshop — Toowoomba
DESCRIPTION:Herbicide resistance is changing product use. In many situations\, products and mixtures that previously worked are now less effective. \nThis workshop will focus on the biological pathways and environmental factors that influence herbicide performance\, along with interactions that may occur when products are mixed and will be delivered by ICAN Senior Consultant Mark Congreve. \nParticipants will leave with a better understanding of the key factors dictating herbicide performance and what can be done in the paddock to ensure weed control is maximised. Knowing what weeds will be controlled from a herbicide application is the easy bit – it’s on the label. More challenging questions include: \n\nWhy do herbicides perform or fail in some situations? How do environmental factors influence this?\nWhat can happen when we tank mix?\nCritical comments on the label. Why are they important?\nHow do adjuvants and water conditioning agents work? What should be used\, when and why?\nHow does resistance affect different herbicides? What strategies can be used as resistance emerges?\nHow do residual herbicides work and what influences their breakdown?\n\nWorkshop numbers will be capped to ensure effective participation. Workshop registrations will be accepted on a first-in basis and a ‘wait list’ will be established for workshops that sell out. \n \nFor more information\, contact Erica McKay\, on 02 94824930 or erica@icanrural.com.au.
