DESCRIPTION:Transporting & handling livestock is a specialist task and one which the whole supply chain relies on to be performed safely\, efficiently\, and professionally to protect our animals\, staff and stakeholders. The transport industry recognises that the livestock industry needs to work in a collaborative manner to ensure cattle are set up for the next person in the supply chain\, and in doing so there is a need to understand what the next destination requires of those animals and prepare them appropriately. \nTo put this into some context\, Queensland currently has 10.7 million head of cattle which equates to 44% of the national herd\, on a regional basis Central Queensland’s Fitzroy basin area easily has the most cattle in Australia totalling 2.523 million head. Queensland’s top agricultural export commodity value in 2020/21 was $4.84 Billion worth of red meat. That’s a lot to digest\, but this highlights the scale\, productivity\, and efficiency of our road freight sector for livestock. \nSo\, carting livestock from A to B sounds simple\, but there is a lot that goes on behind the scene and that’s why the transport hub has been developed by industry for industry.
