Grazing BMP is an industry-lead self-assessment program where graziers can give their beef business a free ‘health check.’ The program is comprised of five modules which cover the grazing industry from the ground up – soil health, grazing land management, animal production, animal health and welfare, people and business. Workshop participants hear from a variety of guest speakers before taking themselves through the modules on a Grazing BMP computer or tablet. Each module contains a series of standards developed by a producer reference group. Participants assess their business against each standard and decide if they are operating ‘below’, ‘at ‘or ‘above’ industry standard. All responses are kept confidential in the Grazing BMP database, but at the end of each module, participants can see how they fared compared to other businesses that have completed the same module.
Grazing BMP is conducting a series of accelerated workshops in the Fitzroy in June. The accelerated program has been designed for busy graziers who want to complete the five modules in two consecutive days. In the Fitzroy, the program is usually split into three workshops conducted over several months, so accelerated participants are able to finish the program quickly, but still have the benefit of hearing from industry experts as well as the unique social atmosphere Grazing BMP workshops create.

Grazing BMP Accelerated workshops are aimed at graziers who have not been involved in the program before. However, if you have completed some modules and would like to attend a workshop to finish the program, please contact the event organiser to see if there is space for you to attend one day of the accelerated program.
