These two RDRPs both contain Action Plans that broadly describe initiatives that stakeholders across the region recommended to lessen the impacts of drought and build future resilience. Now that the RDRPs have been formally approved by the State and the Australian governments\, we move forward in developing an implementation plan and turn the broad initiatives into ‘fundable’ projects. \nWe invite you to work with us as interested stakeholders to gather your ideas and inputs and co-design a series of project outlines based on the broad ideas in the RDRP Action Plans. A 6th generation farmer\, and 2024 Nuffield Scholar\, Michael will share his family experiences from the challenges of surviving New England dieback to their involvement in a natural capital initiative\, Farming For the Future. Michael will speak to the immense value of nature in grazing systems\, benefits of agroforestry\, growing trees and integrating shelter belts. Enjoy this powerful presentation on the success story of Taylors Run Farm and how Michael\, his family and these lands are reaping the benefits of improving soil carbon\, biodiversity\, conservation and resilience within the landscape\, whilst maintaining a profitable and productive grazing system. \n\n\n\n\nAndrew Zerner – RCS Regional Facilitator. Andrew will provide an overview of the RCS grazing principles and how these can be developed to support an effective grazing land management system. The highlight of the day will include a paddock demonstration and how to apply these principles in a grazing system. Discussions will focus on the importance of ground cover\, plant diversity and how landscape hydrology and tree planting supports your landscape assets – natural capital. \n\n\nLeesa Kelly – Senior Program Manager\, Natural Capital Team\, BMRG. Leesa will share information on BMRG’s Climate Smart Catchments Project which is designed to provide a starting point for landholders to better understand Natural Capital and provide pathways to environmental markets like carbon and biodiversity. \n\n\nRob Young – Eco Insects. Rob will provide an overview of services available to attendees and the role of beneficial insects in a grazing system. Discussions will include tailored biological solutions to help restore and maintain healthy ecosystems with a focus on dung beetles. Katie and Andrew are experienced regenerative land managers and educators who will be introducing their workshop and consulting services to help people connect the dots between goals\, landscape and livestock. \nYarn on a Farm events are an initiative by Boonah and District Landcare to connect and share collective wisdom towards stewardship of the land we manage.
