When Dionne Walsh established Range IQ in 2021, she brought with her more than 30 years of experience working across government and non-government organisations in northern Australia.

Dionne Walsh is a frequent user of FutureBeef’s resources.

As a consultant, Dionne’s goal is simple: make good science and economics practical and accessible.

“My main areas of expertise include carrying capacity assessment, infrastructure planning, grazing land management and industry skills training,” Dionne said.

Her philosophy is captured by a favourite saying:

“When the practical experience of land managers collides with good science, great things happen.”

Through Range IQ, Dionne works closely with producers and grazing enterprises to help solve problems, identify opportunities and build the skills needed for long-term success.

A key part of her work involves drawing on trusted information sources, and FutureBeef is one she returns to regularly.

“The FutureBeef resources I use most include the pasture types booklets, pasture yield photo standards, and information on cattle production and nutrition and sown pastures,” she said.

“I also tune into the webinars and always learn something useful from the regular e-bulletin. I love that it arrives straight in my inbox.”

Beyond the technical resources, Dionne values FutureBeef as a hub that connects producers and service providers across northern Australia.

“I often refer people to the Events Calendar and YouTube videos, and the staff directory is a great way to connect with professionals in different regions.”

One area where FutureBeef resources are particularly valuable is feed budgeting and land condition assessment. Dionne regularly works with clients to develop feed budgets and train staff within larger grazing businesses so they can confidently undertake the process themselves.

“FutureBeef is a great source of written information, videos and webinars that help people learn about feed budgeting and land condition assessment,” she said.

“I really like the way the resources are cross-linked. You can almost choose your own adventure through the website, and the search filters make it easy to find information relevant to the area you’re working in.”

For Dionne, one of FutureBeef’s greatest strengths is the breadth and credibility of its information.

“FutureBeef is truly a one-stop shop for high-quality, credible resources on just about any topic in the northern beef industry,” she said.

“New content is being added all the time, so the information remains relevant and up to date. I also like that it’s available in a range of formats, including podcasts, webinars, written materials and training courses, which suits different learning styles.”

Because of this, FutureBeef has become a resource she confidently recommends to her clients.

“I recommend FutureBeef because I know I can trust the information. It’s independent, evidence-based and practical, making it a valuable resource for both consultants and producers alike.”
