In this video, David and Jo Stoate from Anna Plains Station in WA’s west Kimberley region discuss the benefits of the Optiweigh in-paddock weighing unit. They also detail how they worked with DPIRD to receive a grant to assist with the purchase.
Optiweigh enables in-paddock weighing of animals to determine the performance of the herd, which is automatically reported each day. Information on weight gains and individual animal weights can be used in several ways, including:
- Optimising the use of supplements to determine the best supplementation strategy
- Using the knowledge of individual animal weights to inform marketing decisions.
