The PPMT project is one of 12 projects being undertaken by the CRC for Remote Economic Participation (CRC-REP) and is being led by the Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries, Northern Territory. The project aims to develop a commercial Precision Pastoral Management System (PPMS) based on integrated modules that are compatible with existing software and hardware. The PPMS will integrate remotely collected, precision data on cattle and pasture performance, using minimal labour inputs.
A Feasibility Study into the PPMS has been conducted and a Prototype is currently under development.
The Precision Pastoral Management Tools project has been trialling its PPMS software at Glenflorrie Station for the past two years. The PPMS software uses walk-over-weighing and satellite data to monitor daily cattle and pasture performance, then analyses this data on a weekly basis to provide a customised report back for the station manager.
