Project summary
Shane and Alethea Nicolle’s Mulga Park Station, located on the Northern Territory and South Australia border, has been part of the Paddock Challenge project since 2022.
Through monitoring pasture growth, land condition, herd performance and business outcomes, the project is helping build a clearer understanding of sustainable grazing management in Central Australia. A key finding has been the importance of considering pasture quality as well as quantity when determining carrying capacity, highlighting the value of combining scientific research with producer experience to improve decision-making and refine grazing management recommendations.
