Looking to improve pasture utilisation, make more informed stocking decisions and boost the long-term productivity of your grazing business?
The Grazing Land Management (GLM) EDGEnetwork workshop is an interactive three-day program delivered by the Department of Primary Industries as part of a suite of EDGEnetwork packages that provides producers with the knowledge and practical tools needed to manage land condition and profitability for the long term. Participants gain a deeper understanding of the grazing ecosystem, carrying capacity, forage budgeting, grazing systems, soil health and strategies to improve land condition.
The workshop explores topics including selective grazing, identifying key pasture species, understanding ecosystem processes, assessing long-term carrying capacity and developing practical strategies to manage seasonal variability and improve productivity. Participants also learn the principles of effective grazing systems, weed management, fire management and pasture improvement.

Why attend?
Producers who have completed GLM EDGE consistently report increased confidence in making grazing management decisions and a better understanding of how to manage their land resource for future generations. Across workshops delivered through the Grazing Extension Support Project, participants reported strong improvements in knowledge, practical skills and confidence to adopt improved grazing land management practices.
Participants have described GLM EDGE as:
“Comprehensive, valuable, worthwhile.”
“Excellent for stepping up in your job and understanding your property and options to get your best production.”
“It was all very helpful to me on gaining a better knowledge of what goes into stocking as well as getting the best out of pastures.”
“Great tools especially if you don’t know your country or are purchasing a new property.”
Producers also highlighted practical skills such as determining long-term carrying capacity, understanding the value of productive pasture species and improving soil conservation outcomes.

Introducing Grazing Fundamentals EDGE
If you’re new to grazing land management or looking for a refresher, a one-day Grazing Fundamentals EDGE workshop is also available. This introductory workshop provides a practical foundation in grazing management principles and is an excellent starting point before progressing to the full GLM EDGE program.
Upcoming workshop: Townsville
A GLM EDGE workshop is planned for Townsville from 20-22 October 2026, providing a valuable opportunity for northern Queensland producers and industry advisors to strengthen their grazing management skills and connect with others facing similar opportunities and challenges.
