A Professional Reproductive Examination for bulls, or BULLCHECK™, provides breeders, vendors and buyers with assurance that bulls have a high probability of being fertile at the point of sale.

BULLCHECK™ is the Australian Cattle Veterinarians accredited scheme for assessing bull soundness and may include:

  1. Scrotal circumference measurement
  2. General physical evaluation and examination of the reproductive tract
  3. Serving ability assessment
  4. Crush side semen assessment
  5. Sperm morphology.

Accredited veterinarians undergo additional training and examination to ensure all vets are at a set high standard.

Find more information on BULLCHECK™ on the Australian Cattle Veterinarians website here: mycattlevet BULLCHECK™. Along with a searchable list of accredited veterinarians.

Watch FutureBeef’s video on Bull Breeding Soundness evaluations here: Bull breeding soundness examination (BBSE).
The Veterinary Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluation BULLCHECK® (VBBSE) offers a standardised evaluation that summarises the result into five fertility components. If a bull meets all the minimum standards at all levels of the VBBSE, it has a high probability of being fertile. Visit the Australian Cattle Veterinarians BULLCHECK website for more information, including fact sheets and case studies.
