A Professional Reproductive Examination for bulls, or BULLCHECK™, provides breeders, vendors and buyers with assurance that bulls have a high probability of being fertile at the point of sale.
BULLCHECK™ is the Australian Cattle Veterinarians accredited scheme for assessing bull soundness and may include:
- Scrotal circumference measurement
- General physical evaluation and examination of the reproductive tract
- Serving ability assessment
- Crush side semen assessment
- Sperm morphology.
Accredited veterinarians undergo additional training and examination to ensure all vets are at a set high standard.

The Veterinary Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluation BULLCHECK® (VBBSE) offers a standardised evaluation that summarises the result into five fertility components. If a bull meets all the minimum standards at all levels of the VBBSE, it has a high probability of being fertile.
