The Metagenomic approaches for understanding the functional metabolic potential of methanogen communities in ruminant livestock project investigated the genomes and gene expression profiles of rumen methanogens from Australian production systems with a view to developing targeted approaches for inhibition of methanogenesis in ruminants.
