Exploring pathways to more profitable production in the Burnett
If you’re growing peanuts, pulses or cereals, or need advice on wild dogs or to hear the weather outlook or about farm succession planning and vegetation management join the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Dr John McVeigh and Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington, at this free workshop in Kingaroy.
The workshop will provide key tools, tips and technologies towards more profitable primary production in the Burnett.
Topics to be covered include:
- rural succession planning
- climate weather outlook
- environmental challenges
- management systems including water and vegetation
- QRAA Primary Industry Productivity Enhancement scheme
- Queensland pulse update and future insights
- integrated pest management in pulses
- sorghum drought tolerance
- food and industrial value-adding opportunities in sorghum
- wild dog management
Highlights will include expert snapshots of proven strategies and new developments that optimise genetics and on-farm management practices in the face of challenges from pests and the environment.
Seasonal forecasts and rainfall probabilities for the coming summer in the Burnett will be provided.
