“Celebrating the diversity of agriculture in the Northern Territory”

The Katherine Research Station Farm and Garden Day has been a popular ‘day-out’ on Katherine’s calendar since 1994. It provides an opportunity for the Katherine and surrounding communities to have a look at some of the work carried out at the Research Station and to get advice from experts on soils, plants, insects and cattle.

This year’s event brings together the knowledge, creativity and energy of our staff, primary industry businesses, groups and communities in celebration of the diversity of agriculture in the Northern Territory.

  • Explore and discover the diversity of your local agricultural Research Farm by joining us on a guided farm tour.
  • Learn practical tips from our staff and invited guest speakers about keeping healthy pastures, soils and livestock, growing vegetables and managing common weeds.
  • See working dogs in action, different cattle breeds, insects under the microscope, rice variety crops in pots and local produce on display.
  • Experience the diverse culture of our local primary industries through an array of exhibitors, live demonstrations, competitions and fundraiser food stalls.
  • Enjoy the friendly family atmosphere of Farm and Garden Day with informative activities for everyone, including kids!

Everybody is welcome. No entry fee. Farm tours running all day from 9.30am – 1.30pm.
