Are your weaners performing? Are your cows getting back in calf?
Come along to learn how to best manage your breeders, your weaners, and your grass.
This workshop will help you to understand and improve your weaner management, breeder herd performance and pasture management. Topics covered include:
- Identifying when to wean
- Links between time of weaning and cow performance
- Nutritional requirements of weaners
- Calculating how much of a supplement to feed
- Early weaning
- Weaning techniques from other producers
- Grazing management and feed budgeting
The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries team:
Jim Fletcher is a Beef Extension Officer with extensive experience in grazing management, nutrition and breeder management.
Megan Willis is a Beef Extension officer with a broad knowledge of grazing land management and forage budgeting.
Bec Clapperton is a Beef Extension officer with experience in northern production systems and grazing.
