Rangeland Management Course Returning Across the Northern Territory in 2026

The highly regarded Rangeland Management Course (RMC) will resume delivery across the Northern Territory from February 2026. Designed for early-career pastoralists and station staff, the course strengthens participants’ understanding of how rangeland health and beef production are interconnected, while recognising the diversity of landscapes and production systems across the NT.

While delivered as a Territory-wide program, each course is tailored to be regionally specific, ensuring content is directly relevant to local environments, rainfall patterns and station operations. The course draws on essential management principles informed by leading researchers and experienced cattle producers.

This one-day workshop covers a broad range of foundational rangeland management topics, including:

  • an introduction to pasture species
  • rainfall patterns
  • land condition
  • principles of cattle nutrition
  • weeds and poisonous plants.

Delivery takes a practical, hands-on approach, with all content grounded in everyday station decision-making. The aim is for participants to develop a clearer, more informed perspective on rangeland management, supporting long-term productivity and resilience. The course also provides a valuable addition to staff induction and professional development programs.
