Showcasing best grazing land management and autumn pasture management practices
Upper Mary Rivercare invites you to this unique opportunity, Thursday, 8 May at Herron Road, Conondale.
During the field walk, hear from Graeme Elphinstone and Brad Wedlock as they discuss:
- pasture plant identification – 3P grasses, legumes, edible forbs, weeds, etc
- assessing pasture condition (A, B, C, D) and how to achieve an A or B score
- tank and trough watering systems to improve drinking water quality, grazing efficiency, shifting cattle camps away from waterways and improve downstream water quality
- oversowing white clover to take advantage of the soil moisture
- autumn blady grass management to maximise winter forage utilisation
- forage budgeting exercise.
Hear about the Upper Mary Rivercare program and the new Mary River Catchment Coordinating Committee.
Smoko will be at about 10:30am with an Open forum to commence at 11am — grazier to grazier discussion and feedback.
Finish at 12 noon with an optional inspection of Elaman Creek Flood Recovery project.
