Day Two: Insightful Presentations at the Cultural Centre

Day two at the Cultural Centre is set to offer a series of thought-provoking presentations. These sessions will focus on Australia’s financial outlook, strategies for diversifying farm assets, enhancing mental wellbeing, and exploring the Intergenerational Prosperity Model™.

Australia’s Financial Markets with Simon Lewis

We are delighted to have Simon Lewis, Treasurer at Suncorp Bank, support our event. Simon’s presentation will cover Australia’s financial markets, reflecting on the notable developments of 2023. He will provide insights into both domestic and international markets, and how these could impact you and your business.

The Three Generation Curse: Averting Family Prosperity Loss

Ben Law, a strategic coach and host of the Financial Bloke podcast, will tackle the often-discussed Three Generation Curse, which suggests that family prosperity built over two generations can be lost in one. His presentation will delve into the reasons behind this pattern and offer strategies to prevent it, sharing exclusive insights not available on his podcast.

Diversifying Wealth Beyond the Farm

Next, Henry Holcombe from Sprout Ag and Michael McIntosh, Property Strategist at Rethink Investing, will conduct an informative session on creating wealth outside of farming. They’ll discuss strategies for diversifying rural assets and building financial stability.

Focusing on Social Wellbeing

This year’s conference places a strong emphasis on social wellbeing. Tracy Secombe, author and Head Coach at Farm Owners Academy, will present on building family and business resilience. Following her, The Rural Psychologist, Chantal Corish, will lead a mindfulness session, offering techniques to enhance mental wellbeing.

Networking Opportunity: Drinks on the Deck

To conclude the day’s events, ANZ will host ‘Drinks on the Deck’ starting at 3 pm. This will be a great opportunity for attendees to network, discuss the day’s learnings, and unwind in a relaxed setting.

Kick-off with a Property Tour

Our field day will start with an engaging property tour led by Luke, Callum, and John McDonald. They’ll showcase their innovative transition from traditional cropping to sustainable pasture development. Luke will also share his valuable experiences and commitment to supporting farmers through various challenges.

Insights from Bigambul Native Title Aboriginal Corporation

Next, Jason Scott will present the unique firefighting and land management techniques of the Bigambul First Nations. This session will delve into traditional practices and ecological knowledge, essential for maintaining healthy ecosystems and effective land management.

Exploring the Benefits of Legumes

Following that, Ian McLean from Bush Agribusiness will discuss the economic benefits of integrating legumes into pastures. David McNeill from the University of New England will complement this by explaining the nutritional advantages of legumes for ruminant diets, and introducing the “Overcoming the knowledge gaps” project, aimed at enhancing legume use in Northern Australian grazing systems.

Carbon-Neutral Farming Perspectives

Subsequently, we are excited to have Richard Eckard from the University of Melbourne speak about the future of carbon-neutral farming, a crucial topic in contemporary agricultural practices.

Engaging Panel Discussion

The field day will culminate in a thought-provoking panel discussion. This panel will feature experts like Richard Eckard, Terry McCosker from CarbonLink, Bernardo Tobias of Suncorp Bank, and other distinguished guests, focusing on the innovative practices of carbon farming and the utilization of legumes in agriculture.
