Come to the GRASS expo at Thangool to hear from a range of speakers as they discuss how to improve land in poor condition.

The Grazing Resilience and Sustainable Solutions (GRASS) program is holding an expo in Thangool to offer graziers the opportunity to see how they can benefit from the program.

Designed to help beef producers in the Burdekin, Fitzroy and Burnett-Mary reef catchments, GRASS delivers one-on-one support and tailored management plans to improve land that is in poor condition.

Graziers who participate in GRASS can access a wide range of resources and apply for incentive funding to undertake projects to improve areas of land in poor condition.

The GRASS expos will showcase landholder involvement, land condition improvement and how extension officers can assist with land and livestock management. Topics include:

  • Pasture die back management – presented by Stuart Buck, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF)
  • Gully erosion control – presented by John Day (Emu Ridge Pty Ltd)
  • Current projects and updates – presented by Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Department of Environment and Science and Fitzroy Basin Association.

Smoko and a BBQ will be provided.

The GRASS program is funded through the Queensland Government’s Queensland Reef Water Quality Program and delivered by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Burnett Mary Regional Group, Fitzroy Basin Association and NQ Dry Tropics.
