The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued an alert indicating there’s a 70 per cent chance of La Niña developing this summer, bringing cooler temperatures, increased rainfall and more chance of widespread flooding.

This webinar, designed to educate and update members on what this might mean for producers, will include information about:

  • The seasonal forecast for Queensland
  • The climate drivers – ENSO, IOD and MJO
  • Navigating the BOM website
  • What producers can do to take advantage of this forecast
  • Maximising crop production in a La Niña year
  • Possible negative consequences of a wet summer

Speakers:

  • Dr. Chelsea Jarvis — Team Coordinator for Extension, North Australian Climate Program and Research Fellow, Centre for Applied Climate Sciences, University of Southern Queensland
  • Hugh Reardon-Smith — Senior Sales Agronomist, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Pittsworth
  • AgForce Grains producer
