Join Applied Horticultural Research at a trial site at Theodore to view and discuss results from the pasture dieback trials.
Pasture dieback continues to cause major feed losses across Australia, creating a need for practical management strategies to help producers maintain feed supply and reduce production impacts. While longer-term solutions are still being pursued, field trials established five years ago have provided insights into approaches that may improve pasture performance and resilience in dieback-affected areas. Sharing these results helps to support informed management decisions.
Complimentary beverages will be provided. Please bring a chair and a hat.
Topics will include:
-
Management of pasture dieback – best bets.
-
Walkthrough of trials – results five years after establishment.
-
Producer experiences with dieback.
-
Role and biology of mealybug in dieback.
-
How to identify and monitor for mealybug.
Guest speakers
Attendees will hear from:
- Naomi Diplock, Lead researcher for pasture dieback trials (AHR)
- Gordon Rogers, Managing director (AHR)
- Caroline Hauxwell, Associate professor (Queensland University of Technology).
