Pasture Field Skills – Get to know your grass!
Pasture Identification Skills & Resources
Learn the basics of pasture ID and relative grazing value of key species; live examples of locally relevant key species will be on hand. Learn what resources are available to support ongoing skill development for pasture ID.
Forage Budgeting Activity:
Practical activity for participants with site selection and use of quadrats, taking pasture cuts/samples for dry matter estimation and feed on offer – DM/ha estimation.
Putting It All Together:
Use of pasture identification and forage budgets to support utilisation/grazing management decisions.
