Is phosphorus affecting your production?

Phosphorus topics in the morning, Grazing BMP reassessments after lunch

The topics on the day will include:

  • Importance of phosphorus in cattle nutrition and production
  • Identifying phosphorus deficient land and soil types
  • Testing the phosphorus status of cattle and soil
  • Managing phosphorus deficiency through supplementation and herd management
  • Phosphorus in soil and pastures – the effect on legume productivity
  • Copper deficiency in central Queensland

The phosphorus team:

Rob Dixon (QAAFI) is a ruminant nutritionist with many years of experience in northern production systems including the effects of phosphorus nutrition in cattle.

Mick Sullivan (DAF) is a Beef Extension Officer with extensive experience in beef cattle breeding and genetics, nutrition, grazing management and beef business analysis.

Stuart Buck (DAF) is a senior agronomist who has spent nearly two decades working in research and extension in central Queensland pasture, crop and forage systems.
