Brief History

Basalt River, 175 km NW of Charters Towers, is family owned, breeding/backgrounding operation.  Since taking over management following family succession in 2017, we have been managing Basalt River according to regenerative grazing principles.  Even in this short time, we have witnessed a noticeable change in the landscape health with a proliferation of perennial, productive, palatable (3P) grasses and legumes and a significant increase in ground cover of our preferentially grazed areas.  Alongside an improvement in landscape health, we can also notice a slow but sure improvement in stock days per hectare, animal production and overall business performance which only acts to fuel the passion we have for regenerative agriculture and it’s place in building profitable, resilient grazing businesses, reducing stress in those who manage grazing land and healing the planet, going forward.
