In this 90-minute online panel discussion, Agriwebb will explore what regenerative agriculture means and what farming practices are involved. The panel will discuss the benefits for the ecosystem, agricultural industry and profitability, any negative implications, and how it can be adopted by producers both large and small.

AgriWebb co-founder and fourth-generation farmer John Fargher will moderate this discussion. John will be joined by guest panellists; Lorraine Gordon of the Regenerative Agriculture Alliance, Fiona Simson from the National Farmers’ Federation and Sam Trethewey from Tasmanian Agricultural Company.

John Fargher, Co-Founder of AgriWebb

John is Co-founder of AgriWebb and passionate about all things agtech. John was raised on his family’s 400,000-acre sheep and cattle station in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia, where his love for agriculture, innovation and entrepreneurship began. He has a passion for bringing technology to the livestock industry and wants to drive increased farm efficiency and productivity through the use of on-farm data and information.

Lorraine is the Director of Strategic Projects at Southern Cross University (SCU), Associate Director of the University’s Centre for Organic Research, and founder of the Regenerative Agriculture Alliance at SCU. She is also a beef cattle trader based in Ebor, NSW, and Director of Moffat Falls and Yaraandoo, which operate several successful tourism, agricultural, and health businesses in the New England and North Coast regions of NSW.

Fiona Simson, President of the National Farmers’ Federation

Fiona is President of the NFF, lobbying for policy reform at all levels of government to provide certainty and sustainability for rural and regional Australia and the farming industry. Fiona and her family also run a mixed-farming enterprise in the Liverpool Plains in NSW, with broadacre cropping and a commercial poll Hereford breeding operation.

Sam Trethewey, Founder and Managing Director at Tasmanian Agricultural Company 

Sam has returned to farming production to build data around innovative, futuristic and truly regenerative farm management systems. He spent a decade working on properties around Australia and the UK, then several years working in corporate agribusiness, which included setting up SproutX, the first Agtech Accelerator program in Australia. He was left alarmed and unconvinced of current food production methods, including their ability to meet future demand and reduce or reverse their environmental impact. Sam founded the Tas Ag Co. with his wife Steph – an innovative beef business that produces grass-fed, regeneratively farmed Wagyu.

Charlie Arnott, Regenerative Farmer and Educator

Charlie is an award-winning grazier from Boorowa, New South Wales, an educator and advocate for Regenerative Farming practices. His family business has developed over the last 35 years from a ‘conventional’ mixed enterprise to a Biodynamically principled holistically managed farm. Charlie has received several agricultural industry awards for leadership, resource management and conservation, more recently the prestigious Bob Hawke National Landcare Award 2018.
