Free workshop about the changes to drought assistance

Shires in the central west have recently had their drought status lifted. Drought assistance will now be delivered differently with assistance supporting projects that improve your capacity to prepare for and manage throughout drought.

This free workshop will cover the following:

• What does the change in policy mean for you?
• Grants and loans available through QRIDA
• Steps to develop your business plan
• Resources and support to get you started
• The LongPaddock and FORAGE

Come along and catch up with other graziers from your area and share ideas over some food. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

The workshop will run from 9am (for a 9.30am start) to 3:30pm.

On the day

Hear from Rural Financial Counselling Service, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Desert Channels Queensland and Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority.

Session 1: 9:30am – 1pm:

• From the Drought Relief Assistance Scheme to the Farm Business Resilience Program
• How to access the new QRIDA Drought Assistance Package loans and grants
• Strategizing goals and actions for your individual enterprise
• Reflecting on drought and using this information for your business plan
• FORAGE and The LongPaddock

Session 2: 1:30pm – 3:30pm:

• Starting your Farm Business Resilience Plan with the assistance of service providers
• Time to discuss any outstanding questions or seek one on one assistance.
