Good listening: There’s an elephant in my paddock
QUT researchers, Dr Rudi Messner, Professor Carol Richards and Professor David Rowlings have developed a podcast series that report on their research in the beef grazing sector.
Developed with Moura grazier and journalist, Jayne Cuddihy, the most recent series of There’s an Elephant in my Paddock podcast presents research insights into important topics impacting the industry.
Some curious insights include producer experiences of satellite surveillance, how carbon economies favour degraded land, and how the banking and investment sectors may have an impact on future food security (spoiler alert: it’s not always positive).
The researchers and Jayne also explore holistic rangelands management, digital agriculture and producer’s experiences in striving to develop the best practice for their land, cattle, family and environment.
The podcast episodes report on research funded by the Australian Research Council (climate shocks and food security), Meat & Livestock Australia (land management and producer wellbeing ) and the QUT Centre of Agriculture and the Bioeconomy.
