Investigating and improving market compliance issues in beef markets in central Queensland

The Investigating and improving market compliance issues in beef markets in central Queensland project aimed to identify and determine the causes of animals not complying with intended market specifications.

The project aimed to:

  • investigate compliance issues from cattle marketed for MSA, EU and Japan Ox markets, and identify opportunities to improve compliance;
  • investigate and demonstrate the use of the UltraMac® digital readout ultrasound machine for measuring fat depth in beef cattle;
  • provide opportunities for technical support and training activities as a group and also to the wider public; and
  • share knowledge and experience gained with other producer groups and the wider beef community.
