The Rehabilitation of degraded land to increase soil carbon storage in Northwest Queensland project trialled and demonstrated innovative on-farm practices that may lead to increased  sequestration of carbon in soil and thereby increased infiltration and reduced erosion and runoff.

Trials were conducted on three cattle properties in the Southern Gulf region, north west Queensland. Management and grazing practices included: wet season spelling, shallow water pondage, spiral ploughing and shallow ripping.

When: 1 July 2012 to 30 May 2015
