FutureBeef podcast, episode 10: Sowing the (good) seed on the Atherton Tablelands

Casting your eye across the lush green landscape of Queensland’s Atherton Tablelands it’s easy to think nutrition isn’t an issue. However after decades of farming production across a number of industries, some of the pastures are found wanting.

Victor Maccoroni purchased a block near Ravenshoe to dip his toe back into grazing after a career off farm. Not only is he relishing the experience but has delved deep into pasture renovation projects to maximise his business and the health of his land.

In this episode, Jayne Cuddihy speaks to Victor alongside Bernie English, an expert in pasture and beef management with Queensland’s Department of Primary Industries.

Futurebeef is a collaborative project for the northern Australia beef industry and partners include the Queensland Department of Primary Industries, the Northern Territory Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Western Australia and Meat & Livestock Australia. The Queensland Pasture Resilience Program is a partnership between the Department of Primary Industries, Meat & Livestock Australia, and the Australian Government through the MLA Donor Company.
