FutureBeef podcast, episode 13: Is your business as resilient as it could be? Plan for it!

It’s quite easy in primary production to get carried away with the day-to-day jobs. The water runs, the planting, the weaning. You are also at the mercy of the unknown — the markets and the weather to name but a few.

The Commonwealth and State-funded Farm Business Resilience Program aims to get producers to work on their business and not just in it; implementing ideas and strategies to counteract challenges in the paddock on the hip pocket.

Natalie Hughes is the Program Lead for their delivery of the initiative and is not just a grazier and farmer herself, but an experienced rural financial councillor.

Futurebeef is a collaborative project for the northern Australia beef industry and partners include the Queensland Department of Primary Industries, the Northern Territory Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Western Australia and Meat & Livestock Australia.

The Queensland Pasture Resilience Program is a partnership between the Department of Primary Industries, Meat & Livestock Australia, and the Australian Government through the MLA Donor Company.
